Theatre from Johkula, for Johkula
Johku Teatteri writes its own plays from the stories of our village. In winter you sit in Johkula-talo, the cultural centre, in summer under the covered stand at Kotiniemi by the lake. Pick your show, pre-order your interval coffee and enjoy the evening. Performances are in Finnish.
Christmas show: Tuomas the Elf and the Aurora Letter
A one-hour family show without interval, for ages 3 and up. Johkula-talo, 28 November–20 December 2026, Saturdays and Sundays at 13:00 and 16:00.
Winter play: The Ice Road Opens on Tuesday
The council has decided the ice road across Lake Johku opens on Tuesday, whether the ice agrees or not. A warm comedy, opening 22 January 2027, Thursdays to Saturdays at 19:00 until the end of March.
Summer theatre at Kotiniemi: The Log Jam
Summer 1958: logs jam in Johku Rapids and the whole village turns out to clear them. A musical play under a covered stand, 23 June–7 August 2027.
Winter concerts
Christmas concert 12 December 2026, chamber music evening 14 February 2027 and spring concert 21 March 2027, all at 18:00.
